On the day my world crashed
The birds started singing early
Peter left for Oregon at 6
It was a stressful start
The morning was warm
The sun was shining bright
You struggled to get out of bed that morning
I knew something was off but couldn’t pin point it.
On the day my world crashed
You left around noon
Spirits were high
You called in the afternoon before I left for work
You asked when I’d be home
You thanked me for being your mom
You said see you later and I love you
I said I love you too
I went to work
I took the pictures
I reached out to the artist
I called you on my way home but you didn’t answer
The door was locked
I could hear sound coming from your room
The house was hot
I opened the windows
I left the front door open
I called your name but no answer
I saw you there
I screamed your name but no answer
I pushed you to the ground but no answer
I couldn’t hear your breath
I screamed out in hopes someone would hear me but no answer
I rushed to find my phone
I called 911
I could still hear the birds singing
I could hear the sirens
I couldn’t hear anything
My world was dark
